Right-hand rule

What's that?

If you compute the cross-product of 2 vectors a,b which is c:=a x b and you want to know into which direction c points, you can use your right hand to determine the pointing direction of c.

One of the thingers thumb, index finger, middle finger points into the direction of a (e.g. the thumb), another into the direction of b (e.g. the index finger), then the third one (the middle finger) points into the direction of c=a x b - given you make sure, your 3 fingers point into orthogonal directions and you do not break the bones of your fingers ;-)
